Hey guys, I need your help, if you’re willing. My publisher is pushing for me to finalize my next book for them. And naturally I have about 27 floating around in my cerebral cortex that I’d love to write. They’re looking for one.
Which is where YOU come in…
Would you be so kind to give me your honest feedback? Put yourself in this picture: You walk into your local bookstore. You see the five book titles below displayed on a table. Which one would you want to read first?
Since you’re familiar with my work, I value your opinion greatly and would love to learn what book would be the most exciting to you. Since most book decisions are made by title and the dust jacket, I’m not explaining them in depth. Just go by the title and sub-titles.
One more thing. Please.
If you’re surrounded by negative people and this blog is your only connection to positivity, let’s keep this between us! But if your social media circle is filled with others into self-development and personal growth – would you please use the share buttons to circulate this to your world? The more feedback from people on the prosperity path, the better.

I’m with Tonya and don’t feel drawn to any of them. Most of the titles seem to violate your message and the ‘Safe is The New Risky’ is already a tired and overused phrase. Let me muse on your behalf.

Hmmm for a guy that wrote the provocatively titled, “Why Your Dumb Sick & Broke…..” ALL of these seem pretty ‘vanilla’ by comparison. I’d say back to the drawing board Randy, you (especially) can do so much better than these above titles, all sound pretty cliche or trite to me to be real honest mate! I would to know the negative programming,the process by which you change your mind besides therapy and how you you got the skills to be “succesful”. You didn’t become “from dishwasher to a millionarie” in 1 year. Tell us the struggle and what you have to learn in order to make $100,000 per month in your business.
Just be hones and lay it all in the line–that’s a book that I would gladly buy.

After thinking about it. I liked GET OFF THE CROSS, WE NEED THE WOOD. That captivated me the most. I mean, it got my curiousity more than the other two. TAKE YOUR POWER BACK does not seem original enough.

I also like A but to tell you the truth, I don’t ever feel like my power was taken away, I just feel like the situation stunk and I had to “redirect”! When I read D, it made me curious but I didn’t feel like the subtitle gave me enough information warrant picking it up. With that said, I wish you super luck choosing the title!! My number 1 choice is “Way of the Jedi” and I feel like that and “Walk with the Ashim” can be combined into the same book. But “Way of the Jedi” is much catchier. Peace and Prosperity is my favorite topic by you.
Number 2 is “Take Your Power Back!” I really like the topic moving from victim to victor. I think this and “Get off the cross–we need the wood” could be combined into the same book also. “Get off the cross” is a funny title, but “Take your power back” is much more universal and less offensive to some people.
Number 3 is “Safe is the new risky” I feel like this is really important right now, and it shouldn’t be in last place, but the other two topics just stood out to me more.

C. Safe is the New Risky applies to the widest of audiences right now. It’s not safe in your job, It’s not safe in your mortgage (or rental for tha matter!). Your retirement fund isn’t safe. Food isn’t safe, neither is the water. The current safe structure is what has personally driven us into the nwm business. People need to know that it’s more of a risk to hide under the desk and hope that the boss doesn’t target you for the next lay off than it is to venture into unknown territory like owning your own business. But it’s equally risky to hide under the TV set instead of navigating that new territory in order to become successful.

Much has been written on victimhood but it needs to be shouted to the ends of the earth until everyone “gets it” I shared one of your articles on choosing to be a victim on my fb page and got immediate responses. I love your work and have all of the faith that you can create a nice balance between victimhood and lack of prosperity.

I want to grapple, first of all, with the idea of “restoring” P & P . Restoring???? Was it in the store before? Has it been taken off the shelf? How about going short & pithy: “Way of the Jedi – A Manifesto for Peace & Prosperity” That, I’d pick up.

Whilst I personally think that anybody going through the trouble of being offended by this well-meaning title has bigger issues in life, again – you want to balance being provocative/piquing curiosity with turning people away. Also, whilst I guess your market is America, it might be useful to bear in mind that the appeal will be even less in markets with more diversified spiritual traditions than the USA.

Truthfully, I do not like any of the titles. If I had to choose one, it would be the first. I think people today are running from themselves, their lives of unfullfillment. I would title a book, ” Wipe out fear with love.” I would teach them that “love is there for the asking”, (that’s another god title) no pun on words. People are learning that, the stuff, doesn’t cut it, and I think they are looking for peace, anywhere they can find it. Sadly it is usually a quick fix of some drug of choice. If we receive the holy spirit, then we only need to learn to manifest the power of it. It’s the only way we can transform.our fallen human nature. I love this title because it is so provocating. If I´m looking for self developement I´d know that this is
where I find it because I know that I have to leave my comfort zone to step further.

If I (a big mouthed Bible-thumping Southern woman with big dreams, a desire to live life outside the world’s rules, and an addiction to all things chocolate) walked into a bookstore, and there were no serial killer books available or books with funny titles (I’m a sucker for a funny title), I would be attracted to:
C) Safe is the New Risky (Because that is the core of my life’s message – that being different is not just bad – it’s everything – and CRUCIAL if we want to prosper in this new economy).
I would then take a look at
D) Get Off the Cross (Because it sounds like a new way to look at my faith – and I am intrigued by that. The title does not make sense to me – but that’s why I’d take a closer look. And it surprised me that it was related to victim hood – which has me even more intrigued.)

A) Take Your Power Back! (It’s not this line that hooks me – I think “Power” is used a lot and reminds me of the seventies, even tough I was only a kid then – but the words “Move from Victim to Victor” that resonate)

Randy – If I may be so bold as to give advice to someone who knows FAR more than me about this: Be true to your audience and keep them in mind as you choose your title. If I am not your typical audience (woman, age 43, mom, lives on the East Coast, in the Bible belt, owns her own business, motivational speaker and comedian, pretty sheltered except for where her career as suddenly thrown her, who has never known what it feels like to be a powerless victim) then don’t worry about which book I would choose. Stay true to your tribe. I think you’re great – so I’m considering myself part of your tribe, whether I’m the one percent or the 90.
Have fun with the new book. It will be a blessing no matter how it’s wrapped.

:0) I’m particularly biased about the whole cross thing with my background but I suspect it would be a turn-off for the majority so if you’re looking to draw people in who’re afraid of having such a title in their home (like forgetting to hide it when Catholic mom comes to visit…), you’d do better to move away from that title. But if you want to shock the hell out of people, yeah! As a mother and contender with an illness for the past 20 years, “safe is the new risky” can be an annoying lil jangle. But it is true… on. some. levels. Life is full of circles and cycles and there is a time for safety. There is a time for risky. 🙂 Just a lil preachin’ from an old woman here… Oxo!!!

At first glance I was drawn to (A) Take your power back, and I’m thinking it about living the true dream and moving away from the herd. The next book I picked up was (E) Way of the Jedi, I mean who doesn’t like action thrillers, Good over Evil. Then (C) caught my eye and as I read the cover flap I realize he’s really tuned into the reality of today. That the JOB isn’t anyway to create wealth or a happy prosperous life. The other two books I was not attracted to the titles and probably would not pick them up and read them, even tho the content is probably excellent.

I’m seeing a Pattern here.. B and E are about the combination of Peace and Prosperity, a concept most people cant imagine being put together, but that’s why you are so great Randy! A and D about about over coming victim-hood and taking back your life. Another good topic. My favorite title that caught my eye was, The way of the Jedi. But I think that’s the Star Wars Fan/Martial Artist inside of me speaking. But, all those would be put among a saturated market. I went to the library yesterday and it took me a 1/2 hour to choose the next self help book I wanted to ready (I ended up grabbing 4). But when I went to grab a book about business and marketing, the choice was EASY because I don’t want to read from a book written more than 10 years ago because I’m wanting to find a new business model to navigate today’s economy. And, most of the books written about today economy are full of fear! So, I ended up going home with only 1 book from that section.. SO, if I saw Safe is the New Risky, I’d snatch that puppy up!! Not only is it different than your other options, it will stand alone on a shelf as a POSITIVE way to get ahead of the curve… I CAN’T WAIT to Read your next book, Randy!

You could create a proprietary visual graphic/grid (your True Wealth Gauge) so people could use metrics to track their money and meaning so they get more of both.

Love reading the breadth of responses. Reading the breadth reminds me of why magazines will use different covers for certain issues. Most of us relate to content in the context of our own hopes, dreams, fears, etc. And, we are so bombarded with information that we frequently don’t even see info that is not relevant to those hopes, dreams and fears.
Ultimately, I see the optimum title being best decided by what you want for a target market and how you want to be perceived by that market.

Your work on victimhood is much needed, but so many of us don’t recognize how subliminally this is working on us even as we publicly reject the notion of being a victim. Many more need to read your wisdom on this subject than will likely buy the book. So, I will go with A then D next.

Love reading the breadth of responses. Reading the breadth reminds me of why magazines will use different covers for certain issues. Most of us relate to content in the context of our own hopes, dreams, fears, etc. And, we are so bombarded with information that we frequently don’t even see info that is not relevant to those hopes, dreams and fears.
Ultimately, I see the optimum title being best decided by what you want for a target market and how you want to be perceived by that market.
