Thank You God

Some people wake up in the morning and say, “Good morning, God.”  Others wake up and say, “Good God, it’s morning!”  I choose to simply say, “Thank You God.”

My friend Chris Brady talks about something he calls the “second second.”  He’s referring to the second that happens, immediately after the one in which you wake up in the morning.  What is the first thought you have upon waking?

That thought is what will set the structure for your day.  That’s why in my second second, I make that affirmation.  So when I wake up after I finish sleeping, I say, “Thank You God.”  I’m grateful to wake rested and refreshed.

When the alarm goes off because I have an early flight, I say, “Thank You God.”  I’m grateful that I have a thriving business and someone wants to pay me a lot of money to speak to their group.

When I have to get up early because I have an eight or nine o’clock game, I say, “Thank You God.”  I’m grateful to still be able to have fun and play a game I love.

It doesn’t matter WHAT is going on that morning, I say, “Thank You God.”

So what about you?

What’s your second second?  Do you have an affirmation to set your mindset and sculpt your day?  Feel free to borrow mine.  Or if you have another that works great for you, please share it below.

I also say “Thank you God” but find that the corresponding thought & affirmation is usually “I love my life.” 🙂 So grateful that it’s my first thought each morning. How cool is that??

  18. Thank you, God, I am grateful for . . .. and then I just start listing what comes to mind.  Anything from family and friends, to health and appendages.  Some of us take our arms and legs for granted.  I mention my house and my car; my mind itself and anything else that comes to that mind of mine.  Then I asked for wisdom and guidance and to know Him better.

I will start adding who does he want me to Bless and ask Him to put people in my path that I may help.

  24. My second second is simply the word and my visualization of “LOVE.”

Then I go from my second second to my days FIRSTS, since I COLLECT FIRSTS.
I look forwards to the one or more things I’m going to do that day to add to my collection of “first times.” Life is a series of experiences, the experiences design my life, so I ‘collect firsts.’ 🙂

While I slept, it worked with people from my business and, my check became a little more than when I fell asleep. It is a lot of people near to me, thanking Randy, like philosophy of prosperity and their life change for the better. I thank you RG! Great to you of the day, new ideas and good game 🙂

I would agree for the thankfulness of the devine order, but totally disagree that labels are not important. God is real. Jesus is real and both are named in the bible in order that they we know their identity. How can you be thankful for a universe and not a creator. Sorry Randy. Not in agreement with your response on this one, especially with a atheist, who we can draw to the light by our faith and belief and validation of it by our prosperity in all areas of life.

  49. A few years ago, in the midst of some troubled times in my relationship, the last words I spoke before going to sleep were gratitude.  I began thanking my spouse for that day, and telling him I loved him right before I closed my eyes.  It re-set our relationship and my attitude.  That feeling of gratitude is now what I wake up with.  I wake up thinking about opportunities and amazing possibilities.

Father, I thank you for awakening me to this new morning. Please help me to begin this day with rejoicing, and with praise to You on my heart and lips for keeping through another night.
I also praise you for the promise of Your Word in Lamentations 3:22-23 that your lovingkindnesses never cease. I rejoice that your compassions never fail but they are new every morning.
I commit this day to You. Help me to keep You uppermost in my thoughts and help me to magnify and glorify Your great name in all that I do and say. I pray this in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.

I also have a evening prayer I will gladly post upon request.
