(Friday Filosophy 2/10/23)
Happy Freakin’ Friday!
Here’s your succulent new edition of Friday Filosophy – the weekly postcard where I challenge you with a question, idea, or topic you may want to think about. Today let’s look at your mental harmony.
Because we can make the argument that nothing impacts your ability to manifest a prosperous life than mental harmony. Nothing.
Think about it. It really doesn’t matter if you are born on the right side of the tracks, attend the finest universities, and inherit a hundred million dollars: If you don’t have mental harmony a prosperous life will be out of reach for you. Because the benefits of being born in an advantageous environment, gaining valuable knowledge, and possessing great wealth can all be neutralized – if you lack the peace, clarity, and concentration that comes from possessing mental harmony.
And that is why I would estimate a sizable majority of the people on earth today fall somewhere in the scale between living with a gnawing discontent to abject misery. And the root cause of this is because they’re allowed themselves to be victimized by the biggest business in the world today.
That business is not big pharma or news media conglomerates, the sick care industry, technology companies, or the entertainment industry, but rather, a toxin stew they all are staple ingredients in – Anxiety, Inc.
The business plan for Anxiety, Inc is simply yet quite profound, and it’s massively profitable. You won’t find the company listed on any stock exchange, but its profits are greater than the top 100 companies on the NYSE and NASDAQ combined. The more anxious you are, the more money they make. This means they need to trigger you about virtually everything, to keep you in various states of fear, anger, angst, grievance, and victimhood.
Take a look at the highest rated blogs, television shows, and podcasts. How many bestselling former White House staffers tell-all books there are. Track the top 10 most viewed Facebook pages on a daily basis, and the tweets that get the most engagement. The “best in class” for each category are the ones that trigger you and keep you anxious.
You can doom scroll through social media for hours each day or you can be prosperous. You can track down vaccine conspiracy theories for hours each day or you can be prosperous. You can nut pick the most extreme examples of the political party you despise for hours each day or you can be prosperous. Choose mindfully.
Our countdown on the podcast continues. This week we explore: The 4th Deadliest Cause of Failure
Have a great weekend. Try to unplug from the manipulations of Anxiety, Inc and enjoy some mental harmony time. Take a quiet walk, get a massage, hold hands with someone you love, meditate, adopt a dog from the shelter, or do the Hokey-Pokey, just in case that really is what it’s all about!
