Dear Fear,
I know exactly who and what you are. You’re the secret killer. You’re the little voice in my head that tries to make me quit too soon, be afraid to take a chance, or stay the course to achieve my dreams.
I know exactly what you’re trying to do, and it won’t work…
I know that if I listen to you, then you win. And when you win, you come back again and gain. So I’m putting an end to this right now. I will stare you down, accept you and even embrace you, because I’m moving forward anyway.
Because I recognize that there is really no such thing as a fearless leader. We all have fear. But we choose to move forward in spite of our fear, or sometimes because of our fear.
So thank you for that. I’m no longer afraid of you, fear. In fact, I’d be worried if I didn’t have any fear. Because that would mean I settled for mediocrity, and I will never settle for mediocrity. I will win, and you will fear me.

RG.. you’re reading my mind. Just this MOMENT I sent an email to a collaborator on our transmedia project whose theme is ‘what you resist persists’. And yes, resistance is fueled by fear, is insidious and will do ANYTHING it can to stop us from achieving our goal. It’s the Terminator, Alien, Jaws or the T Rex. But when we decide to be Pros, we TAKE ACTION and prevent it from doing what it wants.. And that means we FIGHT to the end!

Randy, I’m convinced that you are not a true American, because a true American (most, unfortunately) live his/her life in perpetual fear. Fear is constantly fed to us by the media, religious leaders, pundits, politicians, and advertising. They try, and are apparently succeeding, in getting people to shake and piss down their legs in perpetuity. They are always coming up with a new “boogie man” to keep us in a state of fear. It has been going on for hundreds of years and shows no sign of slowing down: “The Huns are going to get us!”; “The Japs/Krauts are going to get us!”; “The Commies are going to get us!”; “The Homos are going to get us!”; “The Taliban is going to get us!”; “ISIS is going to get us!”; and the bullshit just goes on and on and on…
We travel the world allot, and with that experience we have learned allot. So we respect danger but don’t live in fear!

Great message! A proper way, a hint is to “switch off” your brain just for 20 seconds. During this time, you take the chance, make the decision or do or don´t do the action, anyway. After that the fear is much less. It works great in any situation and you wonder how brave you are!

A very welcome post Ran. y.Ever since you recommended the wonderful little book The War of Art` I have been able to sniff out the many fears masquerading as beneficial – the book is truly inspiring…. The last line of your article doesn`t become you though as you are playing tit for tat and you are better than that. (Why do you need fear to fear you, that makes you a reflection of fear itself.)

I was talking about fear and insecurities at lunch with some friends.
It is best to challenge yourself and the world is what we got out of the conservation. To test to see if what you fear is real or not or just someone else’s own prejudices projected onto you.
Just because people say it can’t be done or that you’re not enough does not make them right.
good message randy ,the fear are the thing that give us a limitation and alway said that we should give off any thiks we focus about.
