One thing I’ve learned about prosperity is this: It manifests itself from patterns. Things that start out small eventually grow big.

You’ll notice that the result of all these sins is not necessarily even poverty or failure, but simply mediocrity. That’s because you can fall prey to some of these and still be successful, even wealthy. But that level of success or wealth is only a fraction of what you are really capable of.

One Too Many

Johnny Carson was one of the most brilliant comedians of my childhood. And the funniest part of his monologue was often when a joke bombed. Often it was what he called the “one too many” rule, when he was doing a series of jokes on a particular topic and went too far. It’s an easy rabbit hole to fall down.

Fighting Dangerous Ideas

I don’t want to end religion. It can (and does) do so much good in the world. But in order to do that, today’s religious leaders have to agree that everyone is entitled to basic human rights and treated equally under the law. Everyone has the right to think, believe and act as they choose, provided those thoughts, beliefs and actions don’t infringe on the equal freedom of other members of society.
