Confessions of a Mad Scientist Philosopher…

Not sure anyone actually carries business cards any longer. I haven’t used one for 20 years. But if I did, pretty sure it would list my occupation as Scientific Philosopher. That label would certainly rankle highly educated readers, since I’ve earned the same number of college degrees as your cousins Pookie, Scooter, and Ray-Ray.
self-examination

Walk Toward Your Fear

We study philosophy to know how to study ourselves. And that is why philosophy is such a gift. Because a life examined is a life evolving upward to higher levels of consciousness, ultimately reaching to one of meaningful purpose.  A life not examined is a life lurching through a haphazard series of accidents and coincidences, eventually sputtering to a pointless end.

Stoicism is Overrated

Marcus Aurelius was a badass. He lost his dad at three, yet grew up to become a legendary philosopher, astute military mind, and a Roman emperor. If you check on ZipRecruiter.com, there aren’t a lot of positions for people with that particular skillset. Not only did he make it work, but he still inspires legions of followers (including me), fascinated with the idea of stoicism as a way to live a better life.

Prosperity: Simple Physics

There’s a lot of mystery, misconception, and superstition infecting our spiritual and religious beliefs. Unfortunately, a lot of this illiteracy bleeds over into our beliefs about money and prosperity in general. Millions (perhaps billions) of people see the manifestation of prosperity as some mystical, unknowable process. I posit that the process is completely knowable and is, in fact, simple physics.

My Advice for Dreamers

Why do dreamers get such a bad rap? Gandhi, Tesla, and Mary Kay Ash were dreamers. Oprah, Elon Musk, and Camila Cabello are dreamers. Without dreamers, there would be no art, no innovation, and disruption would never occur. You can argue that virtually all progress would cease without dreamers.

Letting Others In…

If you follow my Facebook page, you know the posts are frequently about the philosophies and rules I live by. Recently I posted the statement: “Don’t share your problems with people who can’t help solve them. That’s just wallowing in victimhood.” As expected, it got a lot of likes and shares. But it also got something else…

Wisdom – Your Prosperity Superpower

They say a fool and his money are soon parted. That’s usually true. But that ignores the other side of the spectrum: A wise person will soon attract prosperity, because wisdom is a prosperity superpower.

Living with Gratitude…

Don’t know if you saw the story, but there was a woman who had missed the Air France flight that crashed in the ocean killing all on board, only to die in a car crash a week later. I didn’t click through and read the story for prosperity reasons, but it’s a safe bet that it probably dripped with the irony of her death so short after escaping it in the plane crash. Certainly, there is irony in that tragedy, as there is with anyone whose life is cut short. But there is another side, one we don’t ever focus on enough…
