Prayer and Affirmations for Prosperity Consciousness

Posted By: Randy GageJanuary 6, 2010

Let’s look deeper at the issue of what happens in your mind, as you pray and affirm positive things.  I promised we would look at three-part prayers, and how prayer can program your subconscious mind.  I especially want to explore the issue of how you can use prayer or affirmations to develop a stronger prosperity consciousness to manifest abundance in your life.

First, let’s deal with the issues some of you might have about prayer.  I know form the comments that some of you are agnostic or even atheist, and may not be comfortable with the whole idea of prayer.  Here’s my advice to you guys...

Forget about the religious aspect of it.  (I’m a fundamentalist agnostic myself!)  That is really not the focus of our research or discussion here.  I’m more interested in the effect it has on your consciousness.  And the possible effect those prayers have upon others.

In my faith, we use three-part prayers.  I’m a big believer in them because they affirm the positive, and do it in a present tense, not a future one.  An example of a three-part prayer is:

“Divine love, through me, heals me now.”

Those of you of the atheist persuasion could say:

“Universal law, through me, heals me now.”

Part one is the source you are praying to (Divine love, Universal Law, Jesus, Buddha, etc.)  Part two is where you do your part as a co-creator (“through me”).  This is what separates my beliefs from many faiths.  We like to say, “God gives you the light, but you still have to turn on the light switch.”  By affirming that the desired result comes through you, you take responsibility for your own results.  If you remember, that was one of my problems with the “Jabez” book.  In step three, you affirm in the present tense that your prayer has been answered (heals me now, etc.).

I believe when you pray like this, it is just another form of affirmation.  And I absolutely believe in the power of affirmations.  I think they go direct to your subconscious mind.  And it’s what is programmed into your subconscious mind that determines the actions you take every day.

We’ll look at this deeper in the following posts.  In the meantime, here are a few questions for you...

Do you believe that when you pray for someone that it has an effect on them?  And do you think it makes a difference if a group of people prays for you?  Or if you were in a Mastermind group that affirmed positive things for you?  Please share your thoughts below and we’ll discuss it more.

  1. Randy thanks for this post. As I told you yesterday I think I'm finding the piece. Make things more easier for me from now with something so simple yet so profound as your approach today.

Remain in touch. I am strengthening the spiritual part.

  2. Yes. I prayed for my sick sister and she was healed. (the doctor said it was a miracle). She is very good now and she didn't need surgery.
Many years ago a friend of mine praid for me and I could find the best solution to my problems.

  3. I have always thought that "praying" for someone or even just sending someone some positive energy does help them in some way, even if only at a non-physical level. As a Reiki Master I send distance healing energy all the time, but the key is before its sent is to ask that person's Angels (or whatever you want to call it) if that person is willing to accept the energy being sent. If not then I ask the energy go to the earth as a whole. In 10 years I haven't come across 1 soul whose Angels said "no thanks" to receiving good energy.

I also believe that the more people "praying" or concentrating affirming thougts adds to the "power" of the thought.:)

For example, this New Years Eve I got with a very good friend and we did a Cleansing and Intention Ceremony. We each took time to speak what we are grateful for, what we would like to see removed from our experience (cleansing) and then our intentions for the New Year. We did this by candle light and at midnight. Then we celebrated all that we had received in 2009. No alcohol was consumed. lol We did this together because we BELIEVE that it would add power/energy to our intentions.

But it really comes don't to belief in the end. Catherine Ponder found doing group affirmations added to the cause.

  4. Hi Randy;

I do think it makes a difference when you pray for someone, and on a personal level I have seen that with the Hospice patients that I have been honored to meet, and spend my time with.

As a Hospice volunteer I'm in a unique place simply because I am detached from the emotions that the family, and friends are experiencing and therefor, it allows me to be in a place where I can do the most good as far as prayer for that patient.

I've seen terminally ill patients linger on because family members surround them with prayers of "Get Well" without the thought that maybe this soul is ready to move on.

I have had experiences where I've sat with a patient and just prayed for "Thy will be done" and shortly after the patient releases their soul.

Many pray in the hopes that their God will answer without really knowing if God will or not, but how many pray with conviction and a knowing that their prayers are heard?

    All the best as always.

  5. Hi Randy

Thanks for your post, coincidentally (or not as the case maybe) it came at the perfect time.

I have some questions which I hope you can answer for me:

    1. Do you differentiate btw prayer and meditation, or are they the same thing to you? because sometimes you say you meditate, does that mean you are doing something to different to prayer?

    2. When you pray/meditate do you visualise aswell or just repeat affirmations?

Best wishes and Happy New Year aswell!

    Ari

  6. Dr. Nick Hall has some really facinating results of a study that he did in and around Lourdes France. His commentary was that upon his arrival the path was littered with canes, and walkers as the healing characteristics began to have their effects. The activity and the anticipation created an abundance of a variety of chemicals - cortizol in particular - the stress hormone - which avail the faithful essentially a booster shot reducing the effects of the malady and allowing those crippled, to walk without assistance. When an attending priest was asked to comment about the scientific effect, the priest praise God for the miracle of cortizol. The priest had no comment of the lack of blinded people being cured, limbs not regained, and the like. Although the power of the mind and body is tremendous, regeneration is something yet disputed. The Power of the mind IS tremendous.

  7. Prayer is Powerful if you have faith.
You must understand the power of God.
Thanks Randy for reminding me of the awesome power of the Creator.
    Peace

  8. Definitely it makes a positive difference when people send messages of positive affirmation ...

The power of good energy/prayers/good thoughts can be scientifically measured (see the book "Power vs Force", I think the discussion is in an Appendix) and sensed (see "The Divine Matrix" by Gregg Braden- and the description of the plant reacting to people thinking about destroying itself). I also have seen firsthand the weakening of muscle strength in one person when standing next to someone who is thinking negatively about the first person mentioned in this example.

I have both sent specific positive messages with no warning to the receiver and had them voluntarily confirmed as received, as well as knowing I have received specific energy/thoughts/prayers from specific people. Physical distance is irrelevant in all cases.

We are all connected... it's a matter of whether a person is sensitive enough to detect the connection.

  9. When someone in a group feels happy or sad it affects the whole group so of course 'positive' thoughts or prayers or affirmations etc change energy patterns therefore changing the whole energy of universe. Even though it can be a small change it goes out as positive therefore will resolve as positive to whoever is ready to receive it.

  10. Prayer calls God forth and I know for a fact that it impacts others. Group prayer, I believe, must do so more powerfully. Thank you for the prayer, I will use it and the format. It makes sense and resonataes.

  11. Yes randy I do believe in the power of intercession or prayer on behalf others....I do believe in the power of the Master minds, our minds and the Mind of God working together...

    Thank you

  12. Prayer/affirmations are very powerful, proven ways of healing/affecting others. I was in a 10 day "breakthrough" workshop where we did a lot of group activities. Each time the activity ended we would gather in a group "hug". I always stood on the outside edge of the group and wrapped my arms around the group, praying for peace, resolution and acceptance of the lesson being taught. After about 3 days of this, one of the instructors came to me after class and told me that this particular group had more breakthroughs, less crying and worked together better than any class they had had before. At the graduation, he came out in front of the class and bowed to me, handing me a card. It read," when you feel love all around you, it's because you are the source of that love."

  13. Sometimes affirming things as already happened:
"I am healed" "It is done" "Thank you Thank you Thank you!"
    Can be even more powerful.

  14. I think that if you're praying for someone and they're open to receiving that support from you, then yes, it would make a difference. But if they're resisting good things coming to them, then I don't think that they would receive the benefit of that prayer.

  15. It is amazing how people take a single verse of scripture and create an entire doctrine out of it (I Chron 4v10) - Jabez is only mentioned because of his prayer; he would not have prayed it unless he was confident that it would be answered (much less got a mention!)
I doubt ol' Jabez was coming into it from a poverty mindset. He is also a good example as his name means "sorrow maker" and he likely ended up anything but sorrowful.
It is also a good example of short and powerful, rather than verbose prayer.....
    Keep those walls coming down.

  16. I do have a special praye beside the Serenity Prayer and that is the set aside prayer which I learned in a Twelve Step Program I did some years ago successfully
After rearrangement it goes like this :

Oh God , let me set aside all that I think I know about you
all that I think I know about me,
all that I think I know about other people
and all that I think I know about my prosperity and aboundance.

Just for a new experience with you God,
a new experience of my self
a new experience with other people
and most important a new experience with my prosperity and aboundance.

Thank You for listening and have a nice day , God! Amen

  17. I really like the comments here. If I could only keep or beat one line from scripture it would be Matt 7:21 and Richard Bach's quote, "Argue for your limitations and sure enough they are yours." says we are praying, generating affirmations and impacting everyone one way or another. All ways and always the automatic way produces and creates what we have. Taking enough time to alter our constant prayer for the benefit of everyone we know and love ... we are doing it anyway... begins with a few affirmations and for some it could be scripture, Jim Rohn, Og Mandino or the Lord's Prayer or Randy Gage.

  18. I believe praying or thinking positive thoughts/affirmations for someone else helps both both people. Groups of people thinking positive thoughts/affirmations can create a powerful positive energy. I think it creates positive energy for the people making the affirmations, sends out positive energy to the person and sends out positive energy into the universe. "Prayer may not change things for you, but it for sure changes you for things." ~Samuel M. Shoemaker

When we pray or make positive affirmations for people , do we affirm what we think is best for a person or affirm that we want what is really best for the person?

Prayers are not always answered the way we want. This could be a blessing. "God always answers our prayers, but sometimes the answer is no." ~Author Unknown

We need to take time and listen to ourselves.
"God speaks in the silence of the heart. Listening is the beginning of prayer." ~Mother Teresa

  19. Personally I do not belive in prayers - other then that they are limiting to achiveing our goals. In my mind I belive that our actions decide our results, who we are and what we achive. But the second we say "Dear God please give good health to me and my familly" it goes directly into our subconcious mind and tells us that now we can relax and continue doing what we have allways done because now I laid it in the hands of God !

  20. I believe that everything is energy, so yes you can send positive energy to someone else (pray) it may even be stronger when a group sends positive vibes, however, I strongly believe that it is up to the receiver what to do with it. If the person you are praying for can not transfer the energy through themselves the effect will be very minimun or only temporary.

It is the same with negativity, if someone thinks negative of you, you may feel it a bit from a distance, but if you are rejecting it, it can not affect you.

  21. Wow this one I have to digest. Coming from the Bible Belt I am re-programing alot of stuff. I do believe that when I pray for someone that they are helped and I do believe that a mastermind group improves the out-come. I will comment more once I have thought this one through.

  22. Thank you so much for this Randy!
I have begun to read the Catherine ponder book and it excites me so much to learn new ways of praying and I firmly believe that positive prayer DOES have a positive effect on those who you pray for. Besides bringing more fo the same back onto you!
I look forward to your next post.

  23. I am founder and run the international Healing Prayers Circle which has a network of people all around the world readily available to send prayers, healing, love, good energy to any Being in need for free.
The results we have had from this group energy has been astounding, whether it is restoring someone to full health or helping them in their transition as they prepare to leave this world, and we have had a few miracles along the way.
    Group intention is so powerful.

  24. I believe in affirmations concerning all areas of my and my childrens life, whether we meet opsitions along the way or not at this stage of my life and theirs we will continue to pray over our affirmations and God is in every detailed area of them. Harmony and prosperity I believe in and will continue to do so and again whether we face opsitions or not we will continue to do so. When others pray outside of what my children and I are praying for it is done so to their benefit and advantage and to our suffering, this I have personally experienced and lately I and my children are beginning to experience a strong turnaround because we continue to stay the course in praying in all positive manners, not to the downfall of others and only to our and others very best with a stronger focus on ourselves as a family and personally as a whole. Once again I believe in positive principled affirmations and have taught my children about them over the years and still continue to do so today so that the prosperity that I am believing in and praying for daily will come to pass.

  25. Hey Bernice.. that's awesome & I truly believe that as well. I'm going to post your comment.. just using your name along with the quotation.

I really needed prayers last night and my friends came through for me on-line. I thanked each and every one of them.. and wanted to say that they get goodness as well.. but decided to look around and found your comment to say everything I wanted to.. better it doesn't come from me so yah I love it!
