You Be the Editor

Posted By: Randy GageFebruary 27, 2012

Hey guys, I need your help, if you’re willing.  My publisher is pushing for me to finalize my next book for them.  And naturally I have about 27 floating around in my cerebral cortex that I’d love to write. They’re looking for one.

Which is where YOU come in…

Would you be so kind to give me your honest feedback?  Put yourself in this picture:  You walk into your local bookstore.  You see the five book titles below displayed on a table.  Which one would you want to read first?

Since you’re familiar with my work, I value your opinion greatly and would love to learn what book would be the most exciting to you.  Since most book decisions are made by title and the dust jacket, I’m not explaining them in depth.  Just go by the title and sub-titles.

One more thing.  Please.

If you’re surrounded by negative people and this blog is your only connection to positivity, let’s keep this between us!  But if your social media circle is filled with others into self-development and personal growth – would you please use the share buttons to circulate this to your world?  The more feedback from people on the prosperity path, the better.

Okay ready?  Take a breath. You walk into the bookstore.  There’s a big table in the front and there are five books, all by me.  Which one would you want to read first, second and going on from there?

Would you reply in the comments below, listing your order of preference, with one being your first choice you would want to read first, two being your second choice, etc.  If there are some you wouldn’t care to read at all, then leave them off your list.

The choices are:

A) Take Your Power Back!  Move from Victim to Victor

B) Walk with the Ashim:  Join the Crusade for Peace and Prosperity

C) Safe is the New Risky…   Creating Wealth in the New Economy

D) Get Off the Cross – We Need the Wood!  Letting Go of Victim-Hood

E) Way of the Jedi:  A Manifesto to Restore Peace & Prosperity to the Universe

So, you’re in charge:  please list the books in the order of your preference.  Then when I see you next, I owe you a hug!

  1. C. It's the only title without any negative word. If I am looking for a positive approach to life I am tired to hear feel or read words like crusade, victim or manifesto (the latter reminds me of politics and pointless utipic ideas)

  5. I'm with Tonya and don't feel drawn to any of them. Most of the titles seem to violate your message and the 'Safe is The New Risky' is already a tired and overused phrase. Let me muse on your behalf.

  7. I LOVE you and your books but none of these grab me. They seem trite and predictable. The only one to make me stop was the only one to make me smile and is probably the only one to get your butt kicked: D) Get Off the Cross – We Need the Wood! Keep brainstorming.

  9. Randy,For your loving message, I think there are some titles that apply better than others, because they show, at least in a way, what the book will be about. Therefore, my vote is for A (first) and C (second).I really don´t like the titles B or E, since they are a bit "geek" or "nerd", and should draw people off them. I wouldn´t buy it, since I´m not a Star Trek fan.And there´s D, which I found that will get the most shocking reaction. I know part of your job is to offend people, in order to shake them, but I think that that title is unnecessarily offensive and, while ironic, doesn´t show how great you are. I honestly believe that the same message can be given using the choices listed in A and C.
Good luck, and CANT WAIT TO GET THE BOOK!!!

  11. I like the concept of Creating Wealth in a New Economy, but don't love the title. I LOVE the letting go of vitim-hood, but think the title would not be understood by many (since we seem to be a more secular society). The take the power back idea resonates the most with me - title could be stronger for attraction purposes.

    1. Take Your Power Back
    2.Safe is the New Risky
    3. Way of the Jedi

  13. Interesting titles...  I prefer - in order: D, C, A, E, then B....

Why D: edgy...gets people interested... people might wonder exactly what the content is... gives you a lot of room to work with for content....

I would also recommend a sequel to your last book and title it... "Making the NEXT Circle Work" how to teach leaders to develop other leaders and create duplication...

Thanks for all of the mentoring for our team!

  15. I love D) Get Off the Cross – We Need the Wood!  Letting Go of Victim-Hood , my second option is:
    A) Take Your Power Back!  Move from Victim to Victor

    2) Walk with the Ashim
    3) Take your power back!
    4) Get off the cross- we need the wood!
    5) Safe is the new risky
    6) Way of the Jedi

  19. Hmmm for a guy that wrote the provocatively titled, "Why Your Dumb Sick & Broke....." ALL of these seem pretty 'vanilla' by comparison. I'd say back to the drawing board Randy, you (especially) can do so much better than these above titles, all sound pretty cliche or trite to me to be real honest mate! IF I had to pick one or 2 to go with I'd say C or E (That title is not so bad 'The Way Of The Jedi" as your are The Jedi Knight of Prosperity @Randy_Gage !)

  21. How about writing what you know about the power of making a core commitment. What a commitment truly is and how anyone can become greatness if the take a stand that doesn't allow retreating as an option.

  23. Randy, I love your work and the way your express yourself, yet none of the titles really pull me in. If the author's name wouldn't get me past these titles, these titles wouldn't move me. You could pull it off with your fans but would miss a lot of potential new fans. "Way of the Jedi," "Safe is the New Risky" and "From Victim to Victor" are over-used, and as someone said, trite. "Walk With the Ashim" would not be understood by many and "Crusade" doesn't do anything for me.

  25. Hey Randy,
I like the Way of the Jedi but change the subtitle and drop the "A Manifesto to" and have Restoring Peace & Prosperity to the Universe.  Had to look up what Ashim stood for. I do like that subtitle Join the Crusade for Peace and Prosperity.

You already told us that you went to therapy to change part of your negative programming from your up-bringing.  I would to know the negative programming, the process by which you change your mind besides therapy and how you you got the skills to be "succesful".  You didn't become "from dishwasher to a millionarie" in 1 year.  Tell us the struggle and what you have to learn in order to make $100,000 per month in your business.
Just be hones and lay it all in the line--that's a book that I would gladly buy.

  29. Love the titles! My order of preferences ... C, A, D, E, B

Regardless of the title, will love to see you include some ideas about overcoming addictions. I know its not the core of your work, but its an area where you have lots of ideas, and experiences, that you can share.

  31. I only like C.  Reason is it speaks to the greater audience.  The others people may not feel they need it or don't like the title and they won't buy it.  In other words, I am suggesting you walk the "title"   Safe is the new Risky----:):):)

  35. A) Take Your Power Back!  Move from Victim to Victor    Too common
    B) Walk with the Ashim:  Join the Crusade for Peace and Prosperity   Sounds like religion
    C) Safe is the New Risky…   Creating Wealth in the New Economy   Number One
    D) Get Off the Cross – We Need the Wood!  Letting Go of Victim-Hood   Creative but again too interpeted as religion
    E) Way of the Jedi:  A Manifesto to Restore Peace & Prosperity to the Universe.   Star Wars dates you

  37. As for me, I'd buy D) Get Off the Cross – We Need the Wood!  Letting Go of Victim-Hood, the second option is A) Take Your Power Back!  Move from Victim to Victor. The other ones seemed to me too plain for you, Randy. About B and E: people who don't like or watch Star Trek or Star War won't be excited. And yes, I agree with JaredMaidenberg, you can do much better:)

  39. Randy,
My first choice would be D and then A.  Reason is I think most of us live around negative people and having these two books in our library and if we could possible get them to read them, might change their idea of what a victim is.  D is my first choice because of the religious undertone.

  51. "Take Your Power  Back! - Move from Victim to Victor" is the best title to attract the most people I believe as long as it is coupled with a really cool graphic.

Keep up the great work, Randy.  Looking forward to reading your next book.

    1- A.
    2- E
    3.- C
I wouldn't pick up D at all and I don't know what Ashim means, so would read B) because of it's sub title but the title is confusing.

  55. After thinking about it. I liked GET OFF THE CROSS, WE NEED THE WOOD. That captivated me the most. I mean, it got my curiousity more than the other two. TAKE YOUR POWER BACK does not seem original enough.

  57. You have so much to share, Randy, and I want this book to be a mega best-seller. That's why I'll share my truth: I don't see a title that  speaks to my heart. But the closest is A.
