Overcoming Worthiness Issues for Prosperity

Posted By: Randy GageNovember 7, 2009

Last post we discussed how prevalent worthiness issues are for lack programming and limiting beliefs.  They are pervasive today.  In my case, it took a lot of reprogramming for me to accept that not only was it okay to be prosperous, but this is our natural birthright.

Do you really get that?

You are supposed to be prosperous.  To struggle with prosperity (of any kind, whether health, relationships, money or whatever) requires that you be out of alignment with the natural order of things.  But it sure doesn’t seem that way!  Because we get so much negative programming that money is bad, rich people are evil and it is spiritual to be poor.

Just yesterday I was listening to a Jim Rohn CD.  And he said something that when most people hear, I bet they nod along sagely.  In my case, I almost  veered off the highway.  He said, “It’s better to live with someone you love in a tent, than live by yourself in a mansion.”

Do you know just how harmful statements like that are?  Because of course the inference (and the subliminal programming) is that you must choose one or the other.  Let me amend that statement my way:

“It’s better to live in a mansion with someone you love.”

THAT is what you must realize:  It is not an either/or situation.  You can have both.

Please.  If you feel you have worthiness issues, read my 5-book prosperity series. They’re very inexpensive and if you still can’t buy them, get them from the library.  Be sure and read the purple book, “Accept Your Abundance” first.  That will prepare you for what you will learn in the others.  You can’t be treated for prosperity, you must be open to receive it.  Next post we can look at some of the other ways people miss out on the prosperity they are meant to have.

  1. I don't know - but that cracked me up: You swerving off the high away and crashing your car over Jim Rohn saying that!

    Can amend it my way:

“It’s better to live in a mansion with someone you love. And have the wealth to enjoy the mansion and the tent to wish upon the stars."

Cos it doesn't matter if I live in a mansion - if I'm struggling I'll hate it! Gotto be rich and in love and have the mansion... with the nannies, carers. cleaners, cooks, fairies, PA's, butlers, decorators, hairdresser, masseur, florist, etc all being Angels that make it even better....

So I can just focus on whats important to me... and raise the bar to sustainable living and loving.

  2. Randy - great stuff, as usual.
You elude to something here that is so important to not only understand, but to do something about! And that is that we have taken such a psychological beat-down over the course of our lives, we don't even realize that we are continuously being programmed into further mediocrity! Scary.

Another area where many fall short (and I battle this one, too) is self-talk. Something as simple as saying to yourself "you dummy" when you make a mistake can, over time, be totally detrimental to your overall self esteem. If you hear that you're a dummy enough times (especially from such a credible source as...YOU) you will believe it to be true. And no dummy can be successful or prosperous...

    Thanks for the post!

  3. I was listening to a CD from this months Success Magazine...very interesting and VERY relavent to this on going topic. The first two speakers were T Harv Eker and Wayne Dyer. T Harv was saying that you must master the inner game..i.e. deal with worthiness issues and Wayne Dyer was saying what you are saying here Randy, that you are born perfectly into the world. That since we are from Source, we have everything and are everything that the Source has and is, as well. It is the programming that starts after birth that begins to make us question ourselves. As an infant or very small child, we are most likely unaware of the "crap" that's being fitted between our ears. As much as I am "looking" for the negative "stuff" in my life, so I can change it; I realize that there are probably some core issues/beliefs that are not apparent to me that also need to be changed.

I am eager to find out how to reprogram beliefs so that I can return to my "natural" state enthusiastically (root-en theos - of God).

  4. Accepting that I manifested my "nail" because of lack programming. My "Divine Dissatisfaction" was wanting more in my life...happiness, health, wealth, love, etc.

Amazed at the negative programming in things we use to reprogram ourselves.

  5. It is not an either/or situation. -RG

I'm gonna hang tight to this one, thank you.

It's amazing how easily and without thought harmful comments slip from one's tongue.

This is why I'm hyper-vigilant when it comes to what I say to my children (and myself!), how I say it, and how I work to lift them up.

My positive affirmations have become theirs.

I'm lovin' this, Randy. Thank you.

  6. Think I havent had any optional life since I lost my early targets by fullfilling them.
Although I have now been sober alcoholic for more than two years but it´s time to move on now and get rid of the past backpage.
What has been really missing is a plan. For coming five years. I have had a wish or a dream but not the reality to set this in excistens. Scarred ? Could be ? What does it take to gain prosperity ??

  7. Randy:
I did not even know I had limited beliefs running within. I thought that's the way it was. I had all 6 limiting beliefs and some of the other ones that people wrote in the previous page.
Now, your books will be helpful. I know I have to dig out your new book. I bought it about 3 months ago.
I first needed to see that I had limited beliefs in order to change them. It is like asking an alcoholic to stop drinking after he drank a 12 pack of beer and he saying to you, "I don't have a problem I think a case everyday."
Can I make a suggestion?Could you do a prosperity webcast? Let's say for 5 hours where we could easily find out what are limiting programing is and then you can show how specifically you change those beliefs. No theory, just your experience.
Let's say for $39.00 and limited to 200 people? I know if I break through my limiting beliefs then building an organization would be like turning red lights into green lights.
    You need the money.

  8. I learn that each and everyday, the internet has opened up so many avenues of integration and collaboration it is ridiculous. You just need to have to chutzpah to be the one to link the avenues in ways that people haven't even thought of -that's how you leverage your personality, social media and a business idea to bring you your dreams. Geesh didn't know I'd ever use "chutzpah" in a sentence...

  9. @ Alexander Rineheart- I agree with you there. It's about being progressive and encouraging and I do believe it takes some thinking outside of the grid and not being afraid of potential. Lack mentality happens and it's also conditioning but we are worthy and blessings do come. I enjoyed the post here, my first time seeing the site.

  10. On point Randy. Prosperity is all around us. If you aren't living prosperously there are deep thoughts and feelings in your being which says that you can't be prosperous.

Rohn's quote is a big issue with people; thinking that prosperity/love is a choose one or the other situation. We've all heard that idea hundreds of times. It's better to do have love than money, if you had to choose. Why choose? How 'bout both? Is there any shortage of either?

I've released deep seated worthiness issues. My parents put rich people on a pedestal. They 'had money.' We didn't. The wealthy were treated like a different species where I grew up.

  11. Actually we receive a lot of requests like this, but many more asking for live programs. I am trying to find time in my schedule to do some workshops on prosperity again.

  12. Its amazing how we even gotta be careful when listening to self help authors...l love Jim, but he was on about how we don't need affirmations or visualizing and all that..
Check out this statement from "The greatest salesman in the world" by Og Mandino...scroll 2 : "I will love the rich because they are lonely, I will love the poor because they are many..etc...etc"
I read this and I was like WTH? Who says rich people are lonely?
I'm still reading the book, but I got my filters on..
Thanks to your books I learnt a whole lot about detecting lack programming...
    Cheers.

  13. Rndy,

One thing I know for sure and live my life around is we are what we believe. Now beliefs can be changed, but so many times the time and effort it takes is where so many fail. They all want a quick solution instead of going the distance. Changing bad habits and mind beliefs takes practice and in time will become great habits and even better mind beliefs. I know. 23 years ago I was a victim, today I am not. While I don't yet have all of my desires I am working on them. The most important thing I work on each and every day is myself and my mind beliefs.
Your right it is not a either or or. So many want to chose and they say well it is all I could afford or deserve. Yet I believe we can have our cake and eat it to to coin a phrase. Life is what we make it and our beliefs not only of ourselves but our lives also make us who we are.

So people are you a doer or a thinker and not doing what is necessary to make your life what you believe it should be?

  14. LOL..someone asked me something last week amounting to "which would rather have?" I laughed and said BOTH! I loved the dazed and confused looks you get when you open a closed mind.

Your books are awesome Randy and I also refer people to Louise Hay You Can Heal Your Life. One of the most powerful statements is "I AM WORTHY OF _____________" Love, Health, Wealth, Happiness....start with one and then keep adding.

  15. I'm loving this discussion and the previous ones in this series.

Randy you said: "To struggle with prosperity (of any kind, whether health, relationships, money or whatever) requires that you be out of alignment with the natural order of things. " I can clearly see that in the personal health arena, so I am deliberately creating the analogies to the other areas...I have inner work to do to make those realizations automatic. Thanks for pointing that out.

My mother taught me, "It's better to live with the husband you love in a tent on the beach, instead of being married to a man you hate just so you can live in a mansion!"

So I made sure I chose for love...he's a good man, and I was ready for him after several years of therapy. And WE are building a fortune from the combined efforts of our separate projects.

  16. I was profoundly moved by an article from Oprah in her magazine several years ago. She was shopping for china tableware with her friend Gayle, deliberating between two patterns. Gayle said, "Why don't you get both?" and that was a breakthrough for Oprah...and for me.

My mentor suggested it's not a this-or-that situation, it's deciding in which PRIORITY ORDER you will treat yourself. Make your list, revise it as often as you please, and start purchasing according to your financial plan! Do you want the Mercedes or the Porsche first, because you CAN have both. Buy them both on the same day if you please, and you simply choose which dealership to visit first...it's always about priorities.

  17. It is a puzzle. One each one of us has to perform. I noticed as a child the stuff, the days, the moments I really, really enjoyed were over in perceived seconds. The stuff that sucked, the times that were difficult and had me in tears appeared to last a lot longer. I know people that keep manufacturing what they claim they don't want. Of course they blame it circumstances, their parents, their country, their god.

Switch your focus. The moments that past in an instant were about my wanting, my agreement with the perception. The 'way' to get what you want is first you must want what you got. IF, you do this with the same passion and intention you are using to say no but to saying yes... it will disappear and something new will appear and take it's place. You also have the say in what appears but that bicycle only appears ready to ride after you master the one you are on.
