Randy,
twenty years back I had the good fortune to be coached by a guy called John King, a former pro soccer player from the UK. He asked the same question but in a different way.
Each day we would turn up at the training ground around 8.00am, come rain, hail or snow, John would be there, singing his way around the changing rooms to his favourite Mac The Knife number.
He would challenge each of us to prove we were better than the day before, faster, fitter and more focused before announcing 'today's a great day to be alive, lets get out there on the pitch and be the best'
Great coaches live with you for many years and when you need them, you can still hear their voice, feel their drive or sense theri passion.

We cannot see ourselves!
I used an integrative coach and the goal was to move me up in my situation or out of my situation. I moved out of my situation to the life of my dreams.

Randy being "coach able" is a big part of the learning field that for some reason alot of people think they do not need. I have - like you - had softball coaches who helped improve my swing, business coaches who helped improve my online skills, spiritual coach who helped deepen who I was, being coachable is a large part of this business.
Be willing to learn - fall - and succeed - it takes someone to follow
I wouldn't be anywhere in my business without several coaches, mentors that I use!
Randy, I have mentors like you and I have coaches who have a commitment to my commitments being realized. The most difficult places are where I am unwilling, not ready, stiff necked about being coached. Even realizing it is an area I could use a coach being coachable is the first requirement. When I am coachable my job is to make my coach great. When ready the coach will appear.
Awesome post.
Hello Randy,
You must be coachable. It is essential for your growth and
becoming successful. You must coach and be coached.
Peace
Quite agree - currently I have a Personal Trainer (Coach) for the gym for the last 18 months. I have reached levels of achievement with his coaching which I would not have done on my own.
I also see a life coach once a week who has given me perspectives on my own mindset which I was never aware of.

Hi Randy;
I think being coachable is a personal choice each one of has to make, and not everyone is open to it.I've come across many who feel change is not for them, and hold on tight for dear life to the same old beleifs that got them where they are.
For me, allowing change in my life has always been the best choice. Being open to coaching, and mentoring from another person who is able to see into us without judgement has profound effects.
Being coachable allows us to go to our next level to explore new possibilities, and to make serious shifts in our beleif system. I am eternally grateful for all the teachers that have come along the road of my life.

Olga
Hey Randy
My thoughts : Being "Coachable" is super important if you want to achieve success. You gotta be willing to humble yourself and learn before you can lead!
Thanks

i totally agree, but you already knew that right? LOL...
as for me i utilize coaches in just about every area of my life, from language to martial arts, business, personal development as well as physical development just to name a few. not that i am a coach-aholic, i am always looking to improve in every area of my life and what better way than to work with coaches that are experts in their fields. surrounding myself with people that are better and smarter than i am in areas i am weak.... i seem to have heard that somewhere... lol
one thing i do not use a coach for is acountabilty though, i do my assignments, and what is required to fulfill my part of the coaching process but i am accountable to me not to the coach... I know ... i never said i was a good coachee hehehe ....
as usual, this blog ROCKS!
Yes to Rita's comment. What kind of coach exactly are you referring too?
