Welcome to another edition of Friday Filosophy, coming to you this week from Guadalajara, Mexico where I’m conducting a leadership summit.  This is the weekly postcard where I challenge you to think about what you think about.  I received quite a bit of feedback from people after last week’s essay on thinking, so let’s dive a little deeper.

One of the most important things you can do to access a higher level of thinking is zealously working to ensure your ideas don’t become your identity.  I’ve previously written about this as volunteering for a lobotomy.  The other thing that transforms the quality of your thought process is understanding the massive difference between education and intelligence.  Far too many people chase education but forget that the primary purpose of learning is to develop intelligence.  When you’re receiving an education, you’re simply acquiring knowledge.  To become intelligent, you must hone your ability to process and reason that knowledge.  You can hold many university degrees without being intelligent.  And you don’t need any diplomas to become an intellectual genius.  How are you doing in this area?
