So it’s finally here! Today is the official release date of Risky Is the New Safe! As you know by now, it’s a mind-bending, head-rattling, thought-provoking look at the future: What will happen in it, what challenges will that create, and finally what opportunities all this will offer.
The philosophy running all through Risky Is the New Safe is congruent: there has never been a better time to be alive. There never existed more possibilities for creating wealth. And there has never been a better time to go from stone cold broke – to multi-millionaire. Or even multi-billionaire. Really.
So since today’s is launch day, I though it would be fun to start a series of posts on some of the multi-million- and multi-billion-dollar ideas either that we explore in the book, or will become apparent as you do some critical thinking and extrapolate forward from other projections in the book.
So welcome to…”Who Wants to Be a Billionaire! Part One…”
As we do the series each day, feel free to answer the questions posed with your ideas on the answers. Or keep your answers secret as you plot to how you will quickly bring something to market and become the next most-talked-about episode on Shark Tank!
Also, let me know when you think we’re asking the wrong questions, and suggest any other questions you believe will lead people to new and other multi-million- and multi-billion-dollar ideas!
So having said all that, here are some questions to ponder today….
The hectic pace of work and life will continue to accelerate. There are five billion people with smart phones and most of them are connected 24 hours a day. What challenges will that create, and what million- or billion-dollar opportunities will it present?
That hectic pace means that fake foods, fast foods, frozen foods, and microwaved foods will continue to increase as a percentage of our diets – which in turn means high cholesterol, heart disease, obesity, and diabetes will continue to increase. What challenges will that create, and what million- or billion-dollar opportunities will it present?
Those health challenges and explosion of pharmaceuticals and medical care will likely cause a backlash and drive a renaissance toward natural foods and healthy living at some point. What challenges will that create, and what million- or billion-dollar opportunities will it present?

I'm thinking neighborhood health centers (not fitness centers). By combining small health centers as a central point in redesigned neighborhoods, people will be able to have nutritious foods grown from a garden that is part of the center as well as engaging in quick, high intensity exercising. Current data shows that HIIT is much better for overall health and can include resistance with aerobics. Also, having neighborhoods like this will enable kids to engage more into play. In fact, the whole neighborhood will be designed with health in mind.

The ideas to question one: I was recently in Beijing for some e-books business in China. They already have 300 million smartphone users Out of total 1 billion plus mobile connections. Smartphones/portable communication device are creating that major shift in paradigm that is equivalent to what internet did internet. Some challenges to traditional product/services--
1) Time is now a commodity and smartphoners have it all the less, simply because they are able to not only utilise their 'at home/in front of table' time but also while they are on the move. So, advertisers/marketers think about ways to penetrate this time-sensitive new age.
2) Smartphone technology has been a real hurdle for a lot of 'stable' but conservative businesses. Guys, things are moving so fast that 'apps' are already becoming obsolete!
Opportunities-- As everything is converging to smartphones, people literally want to do EVERYTHING on their 7 inchers.
1)Books, movies, newspapers, films, tv is already coming on smartphones. There are opportunities to fine-tune these. For example, still not any good mobile-only ebook apps.
2( There will be smartphone Napsters and Torresnt apps creating a lot of headache to content owners and presenting a lot of opportunities for artists.
What about an app which allows you to create music, share it with your 25 friends at the touch of a button, and they can share farther to their circle. With some fine-tuning this will beat FB/Myspace hands down in terms of speed of distribution and effectiveness.

In keeping with Moore's Law, the fact that Intel just engineered the smallest, fastest processor using nanotechnology is big. This means that even the mobile devices we cart around now, will be obsolete in the next 5 years or so. In the meantime, content is king on mobile devices, therefore, we must provide the critical risks and benefits of the convenience foods we're about to eat at the tap of a finger. Perhaps an app that integrates with the camera where we point it at a food item or package and we get an immediate green or red light. Just an idea 🙂

It could change like the material of the notebooks changes: some might come with leather instead of the plastic cover, or a carbon-pattern on it or with a certain logo on the back, maybe an individual logo. already people complain that phones can be confounded in or after a biz meeting (had that issue yesterday at VW).
A nice ending was when the smart phone of a new co-worker rang with the beep-tones of the little star wars robot (!!!) made me laugh.....

-cooking classes will grow, people meet again for the good stuff (WE can serve...)
-cooking books comeback - recipes will become a new topic!
-people might start gardening more and grow their own tomates and other veggies (grass vanishes)
-apple- and cherry trees grow in parks (start a call to action!)
