I am grateful that I woke up this morning on the green side of the grass.
One of the most irritating customs of the human species is our tendency to fall into pity parties at every opportunity. Take me for instance…
Two weeks ago while playing softball, I completely torn my adductor tendons from the bone, which essentially shot me down for the remainder of the season. The general contractor who remodeled my condo screwed up the plumbing, so I can’t even use the beautiful bathtub I installed to soak in for recovery. Meanwhile I’ve been wasting many hours in the ER, urgent care, doctor’s waiting rooms and fighting the insurance company – when I need to be finishing my next book for the November deadline. It’s enough to make me want to scream. But then I remember something…
My life is a fucking miracle.
I am still playing softball (at shortstop!), at an age when most guys are 20 years into their new coach potato career. My plumbing challenges are in my penthouse surrounded by a panoramic view of Biscayne Bay. I’ve written twelve books, all of which have been bestsellers, and there is a publisher that believes in me for a thirteenth. I am blessed in so many ways that I could write a dozen books on the subject and never scratch the surface.
My self-centered ego wants to focus on every inconvenience, obstacle and setback, which would cause me to lose sight of the tender hugs, majestic sunrises, people who love me, adorable puppies, rewarding work, kind words, beautiful flowers, spectacular views, and the delicious green tea I am blessed with every day.
Not to mention being able to watch the epic World Series matchup between the Astros and the Nationals tonight. Not to mention, YOU, the gorgeous, brilliant people who read my blog, listen to my podcasts and support my work! If I start feeling sorry for myself, someone needs to slap me into next week.
Which of course brings us back to you...
Do you realize how blessed you are to be alive today – in the greatest time to be alive in human history? The fact that you have a cell phone or laptop to read this blog on. The fact that you have Wi-Fi or can have a coffee in a Starbucks and use theirs. You get the chance to experience at least a dozen miracles every day of your life. If you’re looking for them.
That doesn’t mean it’s all peaches, gumdrops, and unicorns. I get that. You face challenges, setbacks and obstacles too. But remember something…
Your life is a fucking miracle.
Are you taking notice of, and celebrating the miracles in your life? Or did you miss them because you were ruminating on the fact that you only received 11 likes on your last Instagram post?
I hope it’s the former. Do me a favor, would you?
Would you just write one blessing, miracle, or person you’re grateful for below in the comments? Seriously. Stop lurking and actually post a comment.
And then in the next post, I want to get to my objective of all this -- to challenge you to take the talents, blessings and gifts you possess, and share them with others. Until then…
Peace.
- RG
P.S. To all you lurkers…I’m serious. Stop lurking and write something in the comments below that you’re grateful for!

I am grateful that I woke up this morning on the green side of the grass.
Thanks for the great post Randy - gotta be honest I quite enjoy lurking...
Well please comment every now and agin!
I am grateful that my mother slept with someone when she wasn't married and it was then a 'shaming' thing to do. BUT I got born from that act and for that I am ver grateful to her.
Ditto that, we do need to focus on the positive more and don't let the negative get us down. "The Princess and the Pea" tale sums it all!
I’m grateful for my insatiable hunger to learn everything about the things I care about. Psychology. Marketing. Copywriting.
I am blessed to see the sunrise every morning from my office, have a beautiful and wonderful wife, two dogs I adore and blessed in doing what I love: serve and support people to live their dreams.
I’m grateful for my brother with Down’s Syndrome, who teaches me everyday to not sweat the small stuff!
This morning from our living room we enjoyed a beautiful Northwest sunrise though the yellow, orange and red leaves of fall. Great start to another great day.
What a fantastic reminder regarding "Gratitude"...the one trait that - without which - one can never be truly happy! I have far too many things for which to be grateful to list only one...but one is definitely having you, Sir Randy Gage, as my great friend and Brother!
I am grateful for my husband David, who supported me in writing my book. Encouraged me to go on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" to share my story, and testify at the Florida Senate to get SB170 passed to eliminate statue of limitations of sexual battery for minors. He has been my ROCK I don't think I could have done it without him!
Rewiring the brain for happiness entails, among other tasks, reflecting every day on the things for which one is grateful. As I write this, I am grateful for my friends. They mean the world to me.
I am grateful to be able face the problems I face to help me grow!
Randy, I'm grateful for you being of the consciousness that even with the torn adductor tendons and all the crap you have to go through to deal with that, you see the bigger picture of how awesome life is. And by sharing this message today - you have made me (and I'm sure other readers and usual lurkers) see what piddly crap we are dealing with is a drop in the abyss compared to this awesomeness we live... Thank you! and have a fast and full recovery!!! and enjoy the game
Thanks, glad to hear it.
I am blessed to have the most amazing daughter and friend. The day I met you Randy Gage changed my life, my thoughts my mind. Forever grateful
I'm honored.
I'm grateful for knowing you and the wonderful wise words,

I am forever grateful for my loving & ever supportive wife, my 4 athletic smart children and their choice of spouse and my 10 adorable , clever & very athletic sporting grandchildren
I have many things to be grateful of. Wonderful partner, great kid, true friends, healthy body, a beautiful home, comfortable bed, successfull businesses, etc..I am grateful for this blog for changing the mind viruses I have been programmed with because of you Randy. And thanks for the person who introduced me to you. You know who you are 🙂

I am grateful for all the challenges I have faced and come through. They have made me appreciate life. They have taught me I can do more. They have taught me to never quit. Challenges...bipolar, deep depression, financial disasters, divorce, unable to hold a job, surgery, partial paralysis. Benefits...determination, goals, dreams, self-employment, wonderful wife, writing, network marketing student...life is good because that is what I choose to believe.
I'am greatful for the chance of being a part of the wedding of my great friend and his amazing wife.
yes. im blessed and have the opportunity to learn almost any and all the things I want to and even hack the system in ways that weren't possible sometime ago.
I'm grateful, so glad that I have the ability to focus and get in tune with the higher frequencies of my life, like with this article
I am grateful for potatoes. It's a small yet not so small thing. I am experiencing completely unexpected, serious health issues. My sister knows I love baked potatoes, so she makes organic ones for me that taste so pure. Thank you for this post.
Great post, but you (like so many others) could do very easily without the f-bomb.
Damn it I know that I am so grateful and happy to connect with RG. Reading your blog posts has enabled me to refocus on my life and all the things that I am grateful for and avoid feeling disgusted, or frustrated when some things don't go as planned. Love and living life with what I have in this moment is the recipe for happiness. Randy, thank you for who you are and continue to share all these great posts. It sure inches me closer everyday to my greatness. Thank you and remain blessed with abundance and prosperity!
Thanks, I'm honored.
Good Morning Randy. I’m thankful for my Wife of 24 years and our 5 kids.
Great explanation. There is allways some “but”.
And it also works from the opposite point of view. The “but” theory is also connected to every single decission in the life. There is no perfect solution, there is always some “but”. Every choice must be done with better “but” version...
Randy, you are the best.
I have so much gratitude for my mom! I recently followed someone on Instagram who shares her neglectful and abusive relationship with her mom as a child. Having my mom with me to support and love me and my artistic dreams means the world!!! We affirm we are millionaires every day
I'm grateful for my wonderful life and the extraordinary people in it.
I am so blessed to own my home outright. That feeling of never having to pay a mortgage or someone elses mortgage is anazing! I am so blessed to have family and friends who are genuinely loving and kind people in my life. I am so blessed to have read this blog today Randy! I truly needed the reminder. Thank you!
Love it!
Always grateful for the priorities in my life that usually prevent me reading your posts straightaway. My wife, our dog, our businesses and our friends often ensure that I look at Facebook about twice a week. Most of those times mean gratitude for reading one or more of your posts.
Thank you.
I'm grateful for a lot of things but to name one I'll say a healthy body and mind... A healthy body allows me to go and see a lot of amazing places and do many things, and a healthy mind allows me to... well - stay sane :o)
Great post! After being married for almost 20 years, my wife and I got blessed with twins who were just born... boy and a girl. Every time I look at them and hold them, I realize that some day when I see the pictures and videos of them being so tiny, I’ll wish I could hold them again; so I’m squeezing all the joy out of it NOW :). #grateful
I'm super #grateful to be alive in these times! Am grateful to live in a first world country! Grateful for my profound self of self, grateful for wifi, the internet and inter-connectivity from it, grateful for my apartment, neighborhood, my ability to have dominion over my thoughts, my knowledge of the physical-spiritual workings of the world, the laws of mind, my friends, mentor, family, and sacred ideas, and or "(my) unique idea combinations"!
Expanded self awareness, universal principle, the ability of "knowing and seeing I can transcend anything", and for my inner realm, my powers of prosperity and discernment,
and maybe most of all knowing I can vividly #imagine through "feeling from within the intended objective", I can create my reality from WITHIN; that feeling, principle and thought vibration are CAUSE not "effect"..
I'm just getting warmed up here!
Spiritual things are discerned spiritually..
I KNOW what I've got, THOUGH, I sometimes fall into a one man pity party too.. no drugs though, no alcohol, nothing except remembering to practice "radical self awareness" again, and more consistently, and count my blessings!..
thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!
I can feel my toes, wiggle them. That means I have full talk, brain to feet to head. I can choose to move, whenever, wherever I want.. I can choose to wiggle my toes, which brings me back to full focus in an important conversation, if I’ve drifted for a moment.
I have been really blessed with my life many times over with the help of God who has been watching out for me since 1964 when I was in a very car accident with 3 other people who all survived as well as myself without serious side effects from the acccident. I had a whip lash that could have caused serious brain damage when the brain stem which is located at the bottom and back of ones skull where the whiplash caused the injury or damage which caused me to be unscious for 36 days.
After my recovery ,Ispent the next year in recovry mode where I had to learn to walk and all of lifes skills over for the second time. But thanks to God and many prayers ,I have been married for 52 years to a wonderful wife with 2 childern,a girl and a boy,2 grand dauthers,5 great children. So I been well blessed from God and been blessed with good health as well.
I get to wake up next to the most beautiful woman ever. Walk my best buddy Stitch. Perfect weather in Jupiter Florida and blessed by the most awesome God!
