Great tips! Thanks!
Today everybody seems to want to know how they can get more followers on social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. So let me share what I believe are the most important things you can do to create a large and loyal following.
First, know your objectives:
You don’t really want more followers. That’s an aftereffect. What you really want is to make an impact: to have more influence, develop relationships, and/or be seen as a valuable resource. That way when you do have a new product or service to announce, people will view you as someone who can help them achieve their goals, not as a vendor.
Have something to say:
If all you post are pix of what you’re eating that day, we may not make following you a priority. Talk about things we find important and have a point of view. We don’t have to agree with you, but at least make us think
Show us what makes you, you.
If you’re a maniacal Pittsburgh Pirates fan, let us see that. If you are passionate about a side hobby of collecting model trains, don’t be afraid to talk about that, even though most of your followers won’t share that hobby. If you think that performance on the Grammys was amazing, let us know. It gives us insight into who you are as a person, and that helps us understand how and why you think about the stuff in your area of expertise that we follow you for.
Be generous.
Okay you’ve impressed us with your pithy quotes, brilliant insights, and wry reflections. Now show us what impresses YOU. Share the stuff that you find intriguing, interesting, or inspirational.
Love those videos of Bob Burg giving advice, a lesbian telling straight people to come out of the closet, or the new cover from the Filharmonic? Well “like” them and share them. Inspired by that insightful blog from Seth, that slide from Project Forgive, or that astute tweet from @DaveRamsey? Well RT or share them for goodness sake!
Do these things and I promise you – people will want to follow you!

Great post Randy!
Some sage advice there in being ourselves. Being authentic will attract the right people and repel the wrong people.
Best of Success,

Thanks Randy. All common sense too!
Thank you, Randy. Clear, useful post!!
Randy, It all comes down to adding value to your network. And when your network starts to "Share" your message, your lists will grow.
Great insight!

I LOVE wise mentoring like this, THANKYOU Sir Randy! I love it even more, when I can easily implement these guidelines, "on my own time" (my schedule)
No webinar to have to attend, no group hangout when I'm not available, no missed conference/mastermind call.
..and the BLESSING of this is; it's free. OR is it?
ie: We must pay-it-forward, through sharing & modeling this behavior; adopting beliefs!
I'm impressed with how IMPECCABLE your professional presentations are, RG.
Wether they be articles, blogposts, videos, books any content OR product; it's always Solving a problem, OR adding value.
I'm am truely impressed enough to model myself after your prosperous example and demonstration.
You're a genesis of prosperity RG!
I've never really paid attention to your blogs on this subject before Randy. But now that I run a business and I'm wanting to start doing some lead generation through social media via educational blogs/videos, the advice is timely. Thanks!
Great advice easily implemented on my time thank you!
BobBurg Mad love dude.
Randy_Gage By the way, thank you for your kind mention of my videos at the end. Very appreciated!!
BobBurg 🙂
Randy, thanks for these awesome tips...giving your insight on this subject. I am sure most people were looking for technical tips & hacks to get more followers but I agree that it really boils down how well you help people connect to you and how much value you provide.
BobBurg Randy_Gage You two are so cute:)
RebelBrown LOL
Great Share! Thank you for the tips... It looks, I personally need to improve on the 3rd point, "Show us what makes you, you" part! Will try my best to be open and share personal thoughts as well!
Great post. It's true that once we provide value to the market more followers will come to us. I like the part about showing people a side of you that isn't all business.
Great tips! Thanks!
