When I’m coaching new speakers, usually it’s about talking with their audiences. Most speakers talk AT their audiences. The world-class communicators talk WITH them. There are a lot of marketing lessons in that for you…
And I want to take a break from our discussion on choosing thoughts because today is the launch day for a new book you should know about.
It comes from Scott Stratten, a/k/a “unmarketing.’ Scott is a savvy social media guy and can help you understand how to use it to develop a strong relationship with your tribe. Instead of marketing at them, you’ll learn how to engage with them. And that’s a formula for success in any endeavor.
Anyway the book is titled, “UnMarketing: Stop Marketing. Start Engaging.” I got a chance to see some of the chapters ahead of time and know that you’ll really get value from the book. You’ll learn a lot about using social media effectively, case studies of powerful results, using video, and how to really connect with your market.
Best of all, Scott has a real conversational style, with just the right balance of how to content, snarky comments, and witty rejoinders. The book is out today. So lift up your chubby, little fingers and click here to get it on Amazon.
Then stop back and let me know what you think.

Hi Randy,
Scott definitely knows how to engage because I've seen his book plugged on more than one blog today, all awesome blogs too 😉
As for talking with or at people, when you can make people feel important by listening to them you have created a strong bond.

Randy you Rock you always remind everyone of the basics like not talking at your audience, but engage them. I like asking them questions.

It is only available for pre order. That usually means months on amazon UK 🙁
Super
I can't buy it 🙁
I am looking forward to read comments and your next post, I may get some of it's tips from them.
I forgot to fill name field.
I got my copy from Amazon before the launch date...devoured it....and believe it to be one of the best marketing books I have read in some time.
Great content. Great tone. Great VALUE!
I loved the book.
I loved the editorial reviews
The first chapter reminds me of "The Fred Factor: How Passion in Your Work & Life Can Turn the Ordinary into the Extraordinary" by Mark Sanborn. A post man because he puts passion into delivering mail impresses those in the seminar/coaching business. Whenever I listen to AGEL presentation also, when there is passion in the voice and eyes, I notice everyone is listening intently and finding new messages from the presentators!
Thanks for the tip Randy. I just ordered the book.
