Ego and Purpose

Posted By: Randy GageJune 21, 2012

In The Profitable Power of Purpose, Ian Percy says “The national epidemic is that people look for ‘jobs’ not for ‘purpose’. We should stop measuring the ‘job-less rate’ and start measuring the ‘purpose-less rate.’”

Not very practical perhaps, but it does give us much food for thought…

Chasing a paycheck or a stock price doesn't really inspire anyone long term.  Following your life’s purpose not only inspires you to daily action, but it gets you out of yourself.  As you make the journey from self-consciousness to cosmic consciousness, your purpose natural moves toward the higher realms.  As this happens, your ego will naturally drive you to manifest this in the physical realm.  And that’s when things really get fun!

  1. When you're thinking creatively, be it coming up with a new product or the latest hit tune, you're accessing something greater than yourself, and channeling it.

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” ― Rumi

Mark 12:30-31 New International Version (NIV)
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’[a]  The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] There is no commandment greater than these.”

... love your neighbor as yourself... self love is important.... take care of yourself... love is not sacrificing your health to take care of others... Love yourself AND others.
...don't trade health for money.... don't trade love (self or others) for money... don't trade happiness for money

prosperity includes love, health, happiness, money, etc

I learned from Tony Robbins that when you value other needs before love, you block love.

    Matthew 5:43-47 The Message (MSG)
"You're familiar with the old written law, 'Love your friend,' and its unwritten companion, 'Hate your enemy.' I'm challenging that. I'm telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer, for then you are working out of your true selves, your God-created selves. This is what God does. He gives his best—the sun to warm and the rain to nourish—to everyone, regardless: the good and bad, the nice and nasty. If all you do is love the lovable, do you expect a bonus? Anybody can do that. If you simply say hello to those who greet you, do you expect a medal? Any run-of-the-mill sinner does that.

    are you accepting your abundance?

    Genesis 1:29-30
Then God said, "I've given you every sort of seed-bearing plant on Earth And every kind of fruit-bearing tree, given them to you for food. To all animals and all birds, everything that moves and breathes, I give whatever grows out of the ground for food." And there it was.

    Romans 14:15-16
If you confuse others by making a big issue over what they eat or don't eat, you're no longer a companion with them in love, are you? These, remember, are persons for whom Christ died. Would you risk sending them to hell over an item in their diet? Don't you dare let a piece of God-blessed food become an occasion of soul-poisoning!

    1 Timothy 4:1-5 [ Teach with Your Life ]
The Spirit makes it clear that as time goes on, some are going to give up on the faith and chase after demonic illusions put forth by professional liars. These liars have lied so well and for so long that they've lost their capacity for truth. They will tell you not to get married. They'll tell you not to eat this or that food—perfectly good food God created to be eaten heartily and with thanksgiving by believers who know better! Everything God created is good, and to be received with thanks. Nothing is to be sneered at and thrown out. God's Word and our prayers make every item in creation holy.

    2 Timothy 4:3-5
You're going to find that there will be times when people will have no stomach for solid teaching, but will fill up on spiritual junk food—catchy opinions that tickle their fancy. They'll turn their backs on truth and chase mirages. But you—keep your eye on what you're doing; accept the hard times along with the good; keep the Message alive; do a thorough job as God's servant.

    Hebrews 5:11-14 [ Re-Crucifying Jesus ]
I have a lot more to say about this, but it is hard to get it across to you since you've picked up this bad habit of not listening. By this time you ought to be teachers yourselves, yet here I find you need someone to sit down with you and go over the basics on God again, starting from square one—baby's milk, when you should have been on solid food long ago! Milk is for beginners, inexperienced in God's ways; solid food is for the mature, who have some practice in telling right from wrong.

take the "not" out => raw organic super foods & super herbs

  4. Good point, RG. I think believe that is the area in which I was messing up in royally, for most of my life - looking for a job, instead of searching for what I was placed here on earth to do. Purposeful living provides us with a consciousness to everything that's going on around us, and a awareness that every that happens to us is aligned with that purpose - it allows us to work with a plan and goal in mind. That is not always possible if we're working a job without much purpose... granted sometimes we have to do what we have to do - to make ends meet. However, if and when the opportunity(s) presents itself, and we are able to follow our purpose - we should jump on following purpose over chasing a paycheck, any day. Indeed!  Good stuff, mate! 🙂

  9. Great post!  I'm all for purpose, but have coached a few people who gave up on their jobs to pursue purpose full-time and are now in financial straits.  My mom started a shelter for battered women, but she didn't start making money for at least 5 years afterwards.  This was her purpose, but you got to keep money coming in while you pursue your purpose unless you have mastered the skill for 3 for 3 (Thoughts, Feelings, Actions in perfect alignment).

Better that than actually undergo the necessary losses of life. But life isn’t really set up to allow for standing still.
